Post 10: Blogging experience

This wasn't the first time I wrote a blog, the first time was 3 years ago when I created a blog to write about my trips, then in ecology we also had to write a blog, but these two were in Spanish, I think that this experience helped me develop my written English, now I can think faster in English and write more fluently. This experience I liked a lot and it was very enriching, the topics we covered were very varied, in each post I could talk a bit about how I felt, the posts I liked the most were "A photograph you like", "My Autobiography" and free -themed posts. I think that writing a blog is a good learning tool that complements the theoretical classes efficiently, from my point of view this modality should be used in all subjects of the university because it's a way of integrating the content of subjects to knowledge . Also nowadays when someone postulates a job, the employers "gloogle" you and thanks to Blogs, they can see that we do not use the internet to publish little relevant things in social networks like Facebook, Instagram and Twitter only , we also use the Blogger platform to write academic topics or topics in other languages.

Paulina Aldunce

Paulina Aldunce is an agronomist at the Universidad de Chile and Ph.D. in Philosophy in Social Sciences and Natural Resource Management (University of Melbourne, Australia). She is a teacher at the Faculty of Agronomic Sciences of the Universidad de Chile (Department of Environmental Sciences and Renewable Natural Resources) and associate researcher of the Human Dimension line of the Center for Climate Science and Resilience (CR2) of the University of Chile.

In 2015, Paulina was present at the UN Conference on Climate Change, COP21 in Paris, where 195 countries signed an agreement (called the Paris agreement) to address climate change and develop actions to reduce carbon emissions in a resilient and sustainable way (I can’t understand how Ossandon was not aware of it).

Paulina Aldunce, participated in the working meeting of the Citizens Table on Climate Change to present the Final Evaluation of the National Action Plan for Climate Change (PANCC) 2008-2012 and the proposals for the PANCC 2016-2021.

This year she was invited as an international expert to define the contents to be included in the Sixth Assessment Report (AR6) of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). This report is published every 4 years and summarizes the advances made in science from all disciplines in the field of climate change.
That's why I admire her.

Photographs I like

I like many pictures, I can´t choose just one so I will tell you a little about some photographs that I selected

In this photo appears my best friend. Her name is María José but sometimes I call her by her nickname"Coté". I met her when I was 16 years old so we have been friends for 6 years. She is the best friend in the world, she cares about me, she understands me and she go with me to the partys,  she's also definitely crazy haha, that's why that I love her.

These photographs were taken in 2015 when I travelled to Torres del Paine with some university partners, we did "The O" (we chose that route because it was easier and shorter). This was my first time in my whole life that I travelled in a airplane.

These photographs were taken in 2016 when I travelled to San Pedro de Atacama and Bolivia. With my university friends visited the "Valle de la Luna" located in San Pedro and the "Salar de Uyuni" located in Bolivia.

These photographs also were taken in 2016 when I travelled to Easter Island with my univiersity friend: Fran Puelma, (In fact if you didn´t notice, she have been travelled with me in all my trips). That summer also visited the island my friends Francisca Soto and Fernanda Castañeda, so we could spend a few days with them.

This year I travelled to Carretera Austral with my college friends. We visited Coyhaique, Puerto Río Tranquilo, Puerto Bertrand, Puerto Aysén, Puerto de Chacabuco, Tortel, etc. In Coyhaique we visited the "Piedra del Indio" and in Puerto Río Tranquilo we visited the "Catedrales de Mármol" and "Glaciar Exploradores".

In conclusion, I miss the summer, I need vacations right now, I wanna travel and go to parties with my friends :( I can only console myself by watching my beloved photos and remembering those moments <3

My trip to Easter Island

In the summer of 2016 I traveled to Easter Island (for the first time) with my university partner Fran Puelma, that summer also visited the island my friends Francisca Soto and Fernanda Castañeda, so we could spend some days with them. The date we traveled (February 7) coincided with TAPATI, which is the party of the Rapa Nui, this party is celebrated the first days of February.

I stayed two weeks on the island, during that time I had the opportunity to visit the typical places of the island (such as the ceremonial platforms: Ahu Tongariki and Ahu akivi, caves: Ana Kakenga, Ana Kai Tangata, Ana Te Pahu and Ana Te Pora, beaches: Ovahe, Anakena and Pokopoko and volcanoes: Rano Kau, Rano Raraku, Poike and Terevaka), taste local food, visit small islands in a glass bottom boat and snorkel. I had a great time on this vacation and I would visit Rapa Nui again.

I ❤ my laptop computers

My favourite piece of technology is the laptop computer, actually I have two laptops, the first and the oldest one is my pink SONY VAIO, this laptop is a mini notebook, I got it since 2013, it's broken but it's still works, in this laptop I keep a lot of photos and videos (trips, friends, birthdays, xmas, etc.). My second laptop computer is a HP notebook, I bought it last year because I needed a new one to the university (in my career we have to use a lots of computational programs like ENVI, R, ARCGIS. Google Earth).  I love my laptops because It let me save my photos and videos on it, see tv series and movies in NETFLIX, listen music in SPOTIFY, do my written works for the college and use social networks like FACEBOOK, WHATSAPP and TWITTER. I use its every day at least 2 hours so I couldn't live without its.

Readers: Let me now if I made a mistake in this text, please, and thank you for your comments.

Why did I decide to study Renewable Natural Resources?

When I was a little girl I used to read the scientific magazines that came with the newspapers, I collected volumes about dinosaurs, Egyptian history, the universe and the animal world, I always liked watching the National Geographic, History Channel and Animal Planet, I still see these Channels along with my dad. When I was in high school I knew that I wanted to study something related to mathematics such as industrial or commercial engineering, a year before I graduated from school, I took a course in Economics and Business at the Summer School of the Universidad de Chile, at that time I realized that business was not my thing. Halfway through my senior year, I still didn't know which career to choose, I was in a difficult situation because I wanted to make a right decision because as we know, colleges are too expensive to make a mistake in choosing a career. In the middle of the year a university fair visited my school, there I found a stand about Forestry Engineering at the Universidad de Chile, where I was given a brochure with the information of the carrer, later, arriving at my house, I researched in Internet more about Forestry Engineering, I wasn't convinced because from my point of view, this engineering had a limited labor field, it was at that moment that I looked at the left side of the website and found a link of the career "Renewable Natural Resources" , I clicked it, I read the information and I realized that it was what I really wanted to study. Later that year, I joined Greenpeace as an activist volunteer, where I reaffirmed my vocation to help planet Earth. At the end of the senior year I did the PSU, I was selected in the career and this is how I am now in the fourth year of the  Renewable Natural Resources at the Universidad de Chile.
